The Adopt-A-Student in Kwahu Foundation is an educational sponsorship initiative under Kwahuman Global Network. It connects compassionate sponsors across the globe with bright but financially disadvantaged students within the Kwahu Traditional Area of Ghana.

Our mission is to ensure that no child drops out of school due to poverty.

Our main operational office is in Mpraeso-Kwahu, Ghana, where the Project Director oversees all local implementation, student screening, monitoring, and distribution of educational support.

The Foundation operates under a structured governance model that includes:

  • A President (who presides over all meetings)
  • Two Vice Presidents (representing North America and Europe)
  • A Chief Financial Officer (reporting to the President)
  • A Board of Directors (final decision-making authority)
  • A CEO and Executive Secretary-General (non-voting executives providing strategic oversight)

All major decisions are made at the Board level to ensure accountability and transparency.

Students are:

  • Recommended by headteachers
  • Screened in accordance with Ghana Education Service academic standards
  • Identified through field visits conducted by the Project Director
  • Evaluated based on financial need and academic potential

Priority is given to orphans and students from extreme poverty backgrounds who are at risk of dropping out.

Depending on the student’s level, sponsorship may include:

  • School uniforms and sandals
  • Books and learning materials
  • Tuition and examination fees
  • Vocational training (carpentry, tailoring, masonry, electrical work, etc.)
  • Professional degree support (medicine, engineering, law, economics, accountancy)

Sponsors commit to supporting a student for a minimum of six (6) years to ensure continuity and stability in the child’s academic journey.

Yes. Sponsors receive an official letter with the student’s name, age, and school information. Sponsors may request contact information and monitor academic progress through bi-annual academic evaluations provided by the Foundation.

The Foundation maintains transparency through:

  • Annual budget preparation and Board approval
  • Direct oversight by the President and CFO
  • Academic progress monitoring twice per year
  • Structured reporting from the Ghana office

All decisions and financial approvals are made at the Board level.

Phase Two (launched in 2025) expands sponsorship to high-achieving students admitted into professional programs such as:

  • Medicine
  • Nursing
  • Engineering
  • Law
  • Economics
  • Accountancy

Students under this phase may voluntarily sign an undertaking to serve in the Kwahu Traditional Area for at least two years after graduation, especially in essential sectors like healthcare.

The program currently sponsors 89 students, supported by 54 members and friends worldwide, with a goal of sponsoring over 300 students within five years.

You can:

  • Commit to sponsoring a student long-term
  • Partner with us as a donor
  • Support vocational or professional education tracks
  • Share our mission within your community

We invite you to join us in raising future leaders for Kwahu.

This is not legal child adoption. It is an educational sponsorship and mentorship program designed to empower students academically and professionally while they remain with their families and communities.
